Joseph Mathew Connard

My great grandfather is Joseph Mathew Connard.  He was born aproximately  1860 in Austria/Germany.  Not much is known about him until he came to the U.S. in the late 1800s and married my great grandfather.  I know their are a couple different groups of Connards in the U.S.  Was wondering if anyone has came across his name or suggestions on brick walls.
