Hi, I am the latest member. Have been researching on and off for about 30 years. My 'brick wall' is a Thomas Ash born London 1830, by profession a seaman. Known to have sailed to Australia and New Zealand but where he ended up unknown. Over the years I have found many 2nd and 3rd cousins around the world and am sure I will find more. I now live in a small town in NSW.

I just had a look at The Society of Australian Genealogists new web page that is maintained by one of our group members, Carole Riley.
Congratulations, Carole, on your sterling work.

G'day All,
I have been travelling and haven't had time for family history! I was thrilled to notice today that we now have 243 group members. Welcome to those who have recently joined. I look forward to welcoming our 250th member soon.

Hello I'm Alison from Queensland. I've been researching for 20 odd years, especially since the advent of the internet has made life easier and more fun for genealogists.

My project at the moment is researching descendants of Irish immigrants who settled in NSW who are connected with my family tree. It seems that a lot of the families knew one another as is evidenced by bdm records.

Of convict ancestry - I have four direct line ancestors (that I know of) who were transported 'here'.

Hi Kim,
Not that I have been able to prove as yet. I am conducting a one-name study of KEMP which you can view at http://www.kempfamilyhistory.com

Regards,
Andrew

I am looking for information on James Arthur Shaw. He was born 26 Jul 1875 in Riccarton Ayr. Scotland. He died 10 May 1954 in Manly, NSW Australia. He married Agnes Blair McGough in 1899. She was born 30 Dec. Girvin Ary. Scotland. She died 8 Jun 1958 in Ryde NSW Australia. Familysearch.org list 5 children: Jean Shaw born about 1900 in Paisley, Scotland; James Shaw born about 1902 in Paisley Scotland; Catherine Shaw born 4 Oct 1900 in Paisley scotland and there are 2 other children listed as living with no information.
