Hi, all! I have a huge brick wall regarding family from Dayton, Ohio. I am researching Alexander Bergfeld (which was changed to Berkfield) and his wife Samanthe Reese. I found documentation that they were married in Dayton, Ohio in 1890, found the birth of their 2nd son in 1893, and then by 1900 that son was an orphan living with an aunt. Samantha died sometime between 12-23-1893 and 1900. Alexander may have died at the same time, or possibly a few months earlier (since the last name is misspelled/altered on the son's birth record for the first time in documentation). There is a death index at the Dayton Library, but it is by date, not name for that time period. I have done all I can do from California. Can anyone help solve this family mystery?
My mother's line comes from Central Ohio. Family names are; Taylor, Florence, Emerson, Edwards to name a few. I have extensive information on a few lines. For the Taylors, I have a book created by Clara Genther with hundreds of Taylors and related families.
