You are welcome to lurk and if I can help, no problem there either. The Van Arsdales and all spelling variations are part of the Low Dutch Colony that came to KY starting in the 1780s, both in Mercer and Jefferson County, KY with settlement that straddled the Henry/Shelby County, KY lines as well...at Pleasureville. The group was a combo of Dutch and French Huguenots that began marrying back and forth for generations....and first settled in the colony of Nieuw Amsterdam, then to NJ, York County PA and then KY. It will include Banta, Montfort, Riker, Terhune, Demarest [various spellings], Cozine [various spellings], Westerfield, Smock, etc. My own lines are Banta, Montfort, Riker, Terhune, Demarest...but all of them married into the other named families at one time or another.

You can lurk anytime you like....glad to have yo uvisit. Sorry to be so late in replying...I sometimes get started with something then forget about it for awhile. I am familiar with the Shields name for some reason...not that any married into my line but in searching for mine, have seen it. Yep...lots of Van Arsdales...I'm sure a friend of my daughters from middle and high school is related to the ones in either Mercer County, KY or the ones that went from Mercer to central IN. USGENWEB has a portal for Mercer County, KY that is good with lots of info...though I can't get her to answer my emails or add my websites to her otherwise interesting site. Being Dutch, I will just dig in and be stubborn..one of these days I'll get my site included...lol. If you think I can help with anything...let me know...if I don't know the answer I might know where to tell you to look.
