Hi-
I notice that the Glocester Land Records are on microfilm, if I know the exact date of the deed according to a genealogy book on my family, is there a way to find it through the library catalog?
I've used the search much more than the catalog, so I'm not as familiar with it.

thank you!

Hi Kate. I'm not the expert in this group, but I do use the Library catalog a lot! From FamilySearch.org, click the Library tab, then Library Catalog. Choose "Place Search" from the buttons on the right, then type in "Glocester" part of Rhode Island. Click on Glocester Rhode Island when it then pops up, and after that a list of all the records available will appear. When you click on "Land & Property" you'll see that the two films available are: Deed records 1730-1893, general index to deeds 1730-1856 Glocester (Rhode Island). Town Clerk & Glocester, Rhode Island, deed records (1889-1900) Glocester (Rhode Island). Town Clerk. So depending on the year that you want you will want to print that page, and head to your local Family History Center armed with $5.50 per film, to place your order. It takes a couple of weeks for the films to get in, and then once they arrive, you have several weeks time to go through the films. The center will have a film reader and usually a printer of some kind to print from. If you're lucky they will have a digital printer/reader and you can save images to a jump drive! Otherwise if you want to you can use your digital camera (flash off) to take pictures of the pages as well. Have fun!
Thank you Tami. :)
I think once my oldest kiddo starts Kindergarten in the Fall, I might try to go back to my FHL. :)
I appreciate the help!

Be sure to verify the hours by phone before you show up - because they are volunteer staffed, the hours may definitely vary.
:) The FHL in my area used to be open on Tues and Thurs, I"m hoping they still have the same hours.
