I am not sure where to start. I have my father left of this line and he will not help he thinks I am wasting my time. Maybe he knows something I don't (YET). I am looking for the name RICKERT (Canadian spelling) The stories that I remember are, My grandfather came from Hamburg Germany, he was from an afluent home, but left before the Hitler Rise came into power, and settled in Alberta with some other family until he started to appear in the City records in 1934 in Burnaby, BC Canada. He apparently came over sometime between 1922 to 1934 not sure of actual dates, not even real sure if that was his actual name. There is apparently an actual real spelling to this name RICKERT? RICHER? Is there anyone out there that can actually help me with this?

My husband's family are Kroll's German ancestry that settled near new orleans, LA.
My mother was a Hellmer's on her father's side, which is all German.

I'm reseearching my mother's paternal family name Harris, who include Adam Harris, William & William F. Harris possibly immigrated from Frankfurt and migrated to Sarnia, Ontario Canada. Also searching my father's paternal family name Reinbold, including Jacob Reinbold, Adam Reinbold immigrated from Stuttgardt or nearby cities. Adam Harris and Jacob Reinbold immigrated from Germany probably in the early to mid 1800's. I don't have any information on how they came here. Jacob Reinbold came to settle in Waterloo, Illinois.
If anyone can help me understand where to even begin this search I would be ever so grateful. Thank you and looking forward to hearing from anyone out there.
