Hi Ian, welcombe to the Group. I see your G Grandmother is in my chart, from the software I use it shows she would be my son's 1st cousin 5 times removed!! The chart is in the discussion section above. Just shout if I can help or you would like to see the full tree, I can email it to you.

Hi Christine,
My great grandmother was Mary Glasspool 1844 - 1886 born at Widley Hants,
her father was John Glasspool 1804 born at Chevington Hants.
I don't know if this info helps you.

That offer is much appreciated. If I glean anything new I will copy it to the Group. Thank you.

I know the feeling - I am in Kent so it takes me the whole day when I go down and that is not very often. I will have a look at the records when I go down next to see who were the parents of John Glasspool ~ 1737. I will let you know when I am going in case you have any more information by then.

Thank you Wendy for your additions to the group. I live down in the South West and rarely get chance to visit Hampshire with enough time for research. So no I don't not have access to Owslebury PRS. Though I know there are some Hampshire transcripts on the Hampshire OPC website: http://www.knightroots.co.uk/

Marriages
30th Dec 1731 Jane Glaspool Francis Attwood Titchfield
18th Sept 1716 Anne Glaspool Richard Pink Titchfield botp
16th April 1696 Thomas Glaspool Mary Gurd Titchfield buried 22nd Feb 1703

Births and burials
7th Feb 1696 Charles son of Thomas Glaspool Titchfield
23rd April 1699 George son of Thomas Glaspool Titchfield Buried 2nd Aug 1699
29th Dec 1700 John son of Thomas Glaspool Titchfield

This is from the Titchfield Fiches. I started at ~ 1737 and worked back - so it looks as if they disappeared from Titchfield ~ 1730 possibly or before. I can go back further than 1696 but we need to find who had John in 1737. Do you have access to the parish records for Owlesbury ?

Thank you Wendy for you kind offer. I may take you up on that. Do you have any links to the name? I am hoping to get up to Winchester Records Office one day and sort out the top of the tree!! I am working with Jill Mariner who is a mine of information on the Owslebury family.

Hi Christine
If you need any particular name or set of names from Titchfield then let me know & I will have a look - now have parish regs from 15 something up to ~ 1841

Thank you Wendy for your interesting comment. I have not expanded my search any further than Owslebury as yet, though I know the name is found in other parts of the county.

Hi Christine
If you have researched the name into Fareham you have probably been into Titchfield also. There are many Glaspole's in the Titchfield parish registers from about 1590 onwards. I think they fade out ~ mid 1700s or a little earlier but this may be of help. They could be collaterals to your family. The name stands out as being unusual as does Goldfinch, another name that enlivens reading parish registers !
