Taaffe

I am looking for any information about my Great Grandfather - Thomas James Taaffe. I have his death and wedding certificates (for both he was living in Wales, UK) which state he was born between 1875 and 1878 (dates don't quite tally) and his father's name was John who, from info on marriage cert., I know was deceased by 1903. Thomas was only about 32 when he died in 1908 and my Grandmother - his only child was only 3. The only info that has been passed down is that he was Irish. I can not find him on any Welsh or English census for 1901 and therefore I am assuming he came to Wales from Ireland sometime between 1901 and 1903 to find work in the coalmines. I have really hit a brick wall with this one so if anyone can help it would be most appreciated.
