I'm looking for the parents of Absalom Frazier born about 1830 possibly in Ohio. He died 3 Jul 1893 in Washington, Washington Co, Iowa. He married Catherine Dill 17 Nov 1853 in Randolph Co, Indiana. Her dates are: 23 Jul 1835 (Preble Co, Ohio)-29 Mar 1916 (Washington, Washington Co, Iowa).
The children I have so far found are:
Leander brn about 1856 (Randolph Co, Indiana) died bef 1900 (in Iowa?)
Isalona brn abt 1860 (Randolph Co) died bef 1870
Florence brn abt 1864 (Randolph Co) died 18 Nov 1896 in Washington Co, Iowa
Frank E. brn abt 1868 (Louisa Co, Iowa) died 23 Oct 1945 (Washington Co, Iowa)
Burt brn abt 1870 (Louisa Co, Iowa) died aft 1916
John brn abt 1870 died bef 1880

They are in the 1860 Randolph Co, IN census.
1870 Franklin township, Des Moines Co, Iowa
1880, 1885, 1895, 1900 Washington Co, Iowa census

The only child who married is Florence.

Absalom has been a dead end for pretty much 30 years.

Welcome, Christina-

On first cursory search, I see an Absalom in 1850 in Ohio, KY, could this be your Absalom, parents(assumption) Alexander and Rosanna. I'm attaching the census.

Did your Absalom serve in the Civil War, the distance between Isalona and Florence suggests he may have been in the war?

I happen to know this is not my Absalom. This one is still in Kentucky in 1880, I have never found him in the Civil War records--and I've even searched the National Archives.

There were (supposedly) 9 children. I haven't found them all.

Absalom and Catherine are my 2great grandparents.

There "may" be a connection to the Fraziers in Morning Sun, Louisa County, Iowa. I can't prove anything either way. There may also be a connection to the Quaker family of Francis Frazier in Randolph County, Indiana.

There is no probate that I can find for Absalom Frazier. I have looked. :( . He's buried at Woodlawn Cemetary--as are many of the family. I have seen the obit for his wife, Catherine. I've also been to this cemetary. (Woodlawn is in Washington, Washington County, Iowa).

Florence Frazier married Benjamin Wilson 20 aug 1884 in Washington County. She had an illegitimate child 3 years earlier.

There are no death certificates for those who died before about 1900.

As to Catherine Dill. The Dills are a bit problematice, but her grandmother was Phebe Brown--a Quaker, so I've done way better with her family.

It's a line with multiple dead ends.

There's a William Wilson that I suspect will never be found. He sold his wife (Amanda Yeoman) the land in 1878 and vanished. (These are Benjamin's parents). Catherine DIll's mother was Nancy Dailey--born somewhere in the east (I have seen Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey). Peter Dill, her grandfather is yet another dead end (he may be German).

But right now, Absalom Frazier is the one I'm concentrating on.
I forgot to add, that I did look through the deed records for Randolph and Washington counties, with no luck. I didn't know about the other locations when I was in Salt Lake City some years ago.
I have the cemetary info for Absalom, but no actual death certificate. It was amongst some of the first documents I tried to get when I started some 30 years ago.

As to Catherine Dill. I find her mother with her 3rd husband (William Anderson) in the 1850 census (Mercer Dill died bef Nov 1838). Nancy married William a few months after her divorce to her 2nd husband (David Clark) and they are living in Preble County, Ohio. I haven't found Catherine--but there are some older sibliings I haven't found yet either. Nancy and William were in Randolph County, Indiana by 1860.

And the early records of Washington county are woefully incomplete. My grandfather had to file a birth certificate in the 1944 because one didn't exist--he was born in 1891.
