Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Looks like I have a lot of work to do.
My GGGG Grandfather, Daniel Williams' Will was written 1823. He died in Newberry Co., SC 1825. I do have a copy of the Will sent to me by our long time
William researcher, Mary Stansbury Williams. Daniel's birthdate is not proven
or his father. I also have land records for Daniel dated 1771 in SC.

I need to look more closely at my tree before posting. My Williams line -- Daniel Williams -- is listed as Group 41 in the DNA test result page of the Williams Research site. My cousin did the DNA test for my line. We are a small group.

Josiah Williams's birthdate is listed 1774-1770 est. He was a son of Daniel. Daniel may have been married before Cassandra Prather to a Frances Griffin.
Some of the children were not listed in Cassandra's Will.

Thanks again for your help.
Tina
Your post below is very interesting and also the others you sent. Definetly new avenues to research.
The birthyear is close to our Daniel's. It has been given as 1740-1747.
There were other Williams families in Newberry. One was the Col. James Williams line and they were in the Rev. War. My Daniel did not fight, but gave supplies. Providence Williams was closely connected to our Daniel Williams. They were both members of the Bush River Baptist Church. I have copies of the Bush River Baptist Meeting Minutes and members.

I am anxious to check out your information that came up.

Almus F. Williams (307 First St., Oscoda MI 48750) is seeking the parentage of a Daniel Williams (b. c!740 d. 1824 in Newberry Dist., SC). .

On the Williams DNA Results page you can go to Group 41 (my Williams line) and click on my cousin's name -- Bert -- and go to Daniel Williams information. To simplify my Williams line it would be:
Daniel Williams b. abt. 1747 VA or MD married Cassandra Prather
Daniel's son: Josiah Williams born ca 1774 VA or SC married 1st Abigail Williams 2nd Mary Polly Tweedle.
Josiah's son:
Isaac (Ike) Williams b. 1828/9 Graves Co., KY married Sarah Jane Norman
Isaac's son:
Joseph (Josiah) Hardin Williams b. 13 Jun 1851 Graves Co., KY married Adeline Susan Dawson
Josiah's son:
Bert T. Williams born 2 Oct 1885 Pomona, Howell Co., Mo married Elsie Grace Oaks
Bert's son, my father:
Harley Glen Williams b. 4 Dec 1914 married Josephine Charlotte Ross
Hi Tina,

I'm a descendant of Daniel Williams also through his son Josiah. I come by way of his daughter Sarah through his first wife Abigail. She married a Josiah Williams, Jr. Their son, James Pinkey Williams, is my great-great-great grandfather. I grew up hearing that his daughter was a full-blooded Cherokee. Is there any truth to the idea that the Williams were Cherokee?
