JESSE BRIGGS was born during 1795, in Otsego Co., New York, and died June 5, 1868, in Springwater, Waushara Co., Wisconsin. Jesse was buried in Union (now Saxeville) Cemetery Saxeville, Waushara Co. Wisconsin. He was married in about 1820, in New York, to MARY OR POLLY WELCH (this is according to another researcher), who was born during 1802, in Connecticut, and who died in 1877, in Springwater, Waushara Co., Wisconsin. Mary was buried in Union (now Saxeville) Cemetery, Saxeville, Waushara Co., Wisconsin, and is probably the daughter of Naboth Welch.

Their children included: Elizabeth Eliza, born about 1824; Silas Lewis born January 11, 1830; Sally Ann, born 1832; and Napoth B., born October 13, 1838.

I am looking for Jesse Briggs' parents, I am stuck in the mud and can't find a way out. No obit found as of yet, no will info as of yet, need help!

Welcome, Cynthia! :)
I did find this site:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wiwausha/saxevilleunion.html

Which includes the photos of tombstones for Jesse, Mary and Napoth.

I looked at the Briggs surname in Otsego County, NY on the 1800 census, there are 16 Briggs families. Do you know what town Jesse was born in?
Here is info that comes from a family researcher...no direct city given

Jesses older siblings were born in MA. He was born in Otsego Co NY (That is according to the 1855 state census)I don't have proof but strongly suspect hey had been in Warren Co. NY, then Washington Co. NY, then Otsego Co NY, back to Warren Co and then he settled in Independence, Allegany Co NY, Then Scio, Allegany Co. and on to Wisconsin

I have the tombstone pics also...a friend of mine is a searcher and she can't find concrete proof of Jesse's parentage either.
Have you or Janice researched Jesse's older siblings? Those findings may give you information on Jesse's parents?
We don't know the names of the older siblings...that is the problem

Here are two fed census images

This Jesse would be too young...as Jesse was born in 1795. Maybe William is a cousin/brother could be a relative based on the name usage...
I am looking at the Briggs/Stateline info right now...as well as the younger Jesse...there seems to be some repetitive names with in the family

This could be a clue...Jesse's son was names Silas Lewis Briggs...I don't know of any Lewis surnames in the genealogy...maybe they got that name from a neighbor a friend...William is very popular with in the familial naming. I am wondering how this younger Jesse fits in...

I think I just figured something out...There are Borst, Russell and Bice also in the family...they are from around Scio, Schorarie and Putnam...I think they may have all been friends prior to moving to WI.

Don't mind my rambling I am trying to talk it out and make it make sense.
The land warrant was not given to him for his service in the war...it was actually granted to Robert J Hodges who was a Private in Captain Harrison's Company Georgia Militia...PVT Hodges then consigned it to Jesse Briggs...whatever that means. I can not find any mention of service for Jesse in the Seminole war
I haven't really worked with those kind of indexes but...I am a quick learner. I am not far from the FHL here in Mesa, and it is accessible to me. I am exploring all of this info
