I am looking for information on my 3x great-grandmother, Tenna James, who's maiden name, according to an order of divorce for her daughter Edith and her husband, was Rhodes.

According to the 1901 census she, my 3x great-grandfather, and my great-great-grandmother and her sisters were living in South Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Also according to that census, she was of English origin, born on June 14th 1876, in the United States of America, and that she immigrated to Canada in 1893.

According to the 1911 census she, and again, my 3x great-grandfather, my gg-grandmother and ggg-aunts were living on 3rd Avenue in Oyster, Nanaimo, which is now known as Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada. Also according to the 1911 census, she was born in June of 1876 in the United States, but immigrated in 1892, and was of Dutch ancestry, and not English, as previously stated.

Unfortunately, since the majority of the 1890 united states federal census records have been destroyed, I can't get what would have been a most valuable clue towards finding her parents, relatives and ancestry.

The closest person I can find to a Tenna Rhodes born 1876 in the USA is a Sarah Tenna Rhodes born 1873 in Tennessee, daughter of James Henry Rhodes and Sarah Elizabeth Rose. Possibly her, but I don't have any proof.

Is there anyone that knows anything, that can find anything, or that can point me in the right direction?

If there is, thanks in advance,
Ryan Williams

I don't have access to a death certificate, nor do I believe I can get one, providing it hasn't been lost, destroyed, or thrown away, the one person that would probably have it is her granddaughter, the great-grandmother that I never knew, who could be dead or alive, I don't think she'd be that old, 80 or so. Anyways, Tenna died August 18th 1920 in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada, and is buried in the Ladysmith Cemetery. I also have had no luck locating an obituary, after searching through a few obituary sites, the Google News Archives for the Ladysmith-Chemainus Chronicle, and just normal good ol' google.

The 1901 image can be found here: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/census-1901/001013-119...

And the 1911 can be found here: http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1911/pdf/e001938462.pdf
