One of my brick walls is Nancy Winkles. I have no idea what her maiden name was. Not sure when she was born. But one of the census says Virginia. We find her in 1840 Marshall County, Alabama living close to Samuel Key who she later marries. I believe her to be the mother of my gt gt grandfather William Winkles. A lot of us are thinking she was married to a Levi Winkles. We find him in 1830 Jackson County, Alabama.

I found these marriages on line in Virginia. I can't find anything else on any of them

George Campbell m. Nancy Brafford August 6, 1813
LEVI WINKLES m. Sally Campbell December 23, 1813
Thomas Brafford m. Betsy Campbell December 29, 1813
Thomas Brafford was surety for George Campbell and LEVI WINKLES. LEVI WINKLES was surety for Thomas Brafford. They were married in Bedford County, Virginia.

I know Thomas and Betsy went to Ohio and died there. Whatever happened to LEVI, George, Sally and Nancy? I found a LEVI WINKLES in Jackson County, Alabama in 1830. In 1840, he is not there. But I did find a Nancy Winkles living in Marshall County, Alabama in 1840. Did George Campbell and Sally Winkles die and if they did when and where did they die? Did LEVI and Nancy get married and Levi died before the 1840 census was taken?
