Hi all-

My Rhode Island research focuses on the Steere Family and related families, in particular the family of Shadrach Steere.

At this point I'm trying to find out how to locate a deed found in the Glocester Land Records, Book 15 page 335 regarding the Raymond Farm. Judge Daniel Mowry deeded the farm to his nephew by marriage to Catherine Steere, Shadrach Steere, in 1803. And I'm wondering if there is other information in the deed regarding the Judge's relationship to Shadrach.

I found this information in the Steere Genealogy Book from 1971. Any suggestions are welcome!

thank you

Hi Kate! The first recommendation I would make is to see if the RI Historical Library has these records. You can find them at www.rihs.org. I believe they also have links to the governmental bodies, i.e. court and land records. One thing to know about, and another lead in establishing any relationship between Judge Mowry and Shadrach Steere, is that RI is unique in its' handling of probate records. Wills were filed and are kept at the town/city hall in which the person lived. So a visit or call to the Glocester Town Hall may prove fruitful for you. Hope this helps!
That you September! :)
Interesting thing, Judge Mowry was the town clerk as was one of his sons of Smithfield or Burrillville(I'll have to look up which town it was.)

Thank you Gene. :) I'm hoping sometime soon to have time to visit the FHL near us again, and have time to look through the films. :)
