This group is for all those interested in emigration from North Devon. Many left this area, particularly between 1830 and 1860, frequently heading for Canada. Large numbers of these people have been shown to be members of the Bible Christian Church.

For those individuals that are looking for information concerning Bible Christian Relatives selected copies of the Bible Christian Magazine are available via Google Books or at the following URL from Oxford University.

Obituaries from the Bible Christian Observer in Canada have been abstracted by Donald A. McKenzie in Volume 6: More Notices from Ontario's Methodist Papers 1858-1872 and Volume 9: More Obituaries from Ontario's Methodist Papers 1873-1884. These texts have been republished by Global Heritage Press and are available via Global Genealogy www.globalgenealogy.com or at public libraries. I would recommend however that you seek the original document once you have identified that an obituary exists in the BCO, as further information is available. The Bible Christian Observer is available at the United Church of Canada Archives in Toronto. http://www.united-church.ca/local/archives/on

Pictures would be brilliant. I'm happy to share what I have. I do also know a little about the Pengillys.
I have quite a bit of info on the Tanton family of London Ontario from St. Giles in the Wood. They are related to my Pengilly family, originally from Clovelly, but moved to Yarnscombe.
My gg grandmother was Susan Tanton from St Giles in the Wood. She was born in 1843 and died in 1933 in Toronto. I have pictures of her and her family if you are interested.
