Can anyone translate the death record for Gunhild (Birgitta ?) Eriksson who died May 14, 1899 in Gävle.
Source Citation: Gävleborg; Gävle; Volume: SCB; Död; 1898 - 1920; Roll/Fiche: CO0740; Page: 0/0.
Record URL: http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?h=1183603&db=...
GID Number: 2103.218.7300
Cause of Death? If it says where she was buried? Also, why there are lines drawn through some of the information? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lori

Well! Let me try... unfortunately the text has been crossed over and some of the letters are difficult to read.
" Eriksson, Gunhild Birgitta- daugter of (? something about her fathers occupation) Gustaf Johan Eriksson and his wife Birgitta Andersson in ? Valbo. She was born the 6th of january 1896 and died of gastroentheritis at 14th of may 1899.

.... she was buried in Gävle the 25th of may 1899.
The lines usually was drawn if the person belonged to another parish. At a map it looks like Valby is a part of Gävle.
Valby is probably a small village on the outskirts of Gävle who came to belong to the city as the city grew.
I looked in the register for Valby where I found her but there is no other information.
Eva,
Thank you for your reply. I have found the record in Valbo (which I can't read either).

It seems strange that she would be buried 11 days after her death. But then, I am starting to get used to finding records which answer one question, but spur others.
And you found it so quickly.
If yu are interested GoogleMap will show the church from satellite. Type in Valbo, Gävle Municipality, Sweden. Navigate toward Gävle and find where highway E4 crosses highway 80 then go west about 1.2 km. A street Backavägen crosses highway 80 and ends at Valbovägen. The church is just to the right (look for shadow and graveyard.
For a picture of the church, Google Valbo kyrka.
When a person is listed in a parish death (and burial) record, they would be buried there; at the church. Photo shows a cemetery surrounding the church as was very typical so that is your place. (In 1899 shipping a body was a problem.)
You should note that most graves are not kept forever so you may not find the spot. I am told after 75 years the plot is re-used. (I would imagin the remains would not be disturbed but another person may be buried on top and a new marker placed. The old markers are often kept around the cemetery, just not in place. Is someone reading that knows the details???)
