Hi Cynthia,

The church records for Bubendorf are available on microfilm through any Family History Center in you have access to one, that you can examine the marriages yourself. The alternative is to have someone with access to the records scan or photocopy those records for you.

I am trying to confirm the parentage of my ancestor Sebastien STOHLER b 1694 Basel,Switzerland died 21 October 1772 Pennsylvania. The information I have is that his father is Penteli STOHLER born 1641 Bubendorf,Basel. His wife was Elsbeth RUDI(N) born 1670 Bubendorf,Basel married 21 January 1690. I found this info on the LDS site,so I am not sure how trustworthy it is. There are a few more generations going back to Thoenge STOHLER and Frena GEIGELMAN married 15 April 1554 Protestantisch,Bubendorf,Basel,Switzerland. I am questioning this line because Thoenge and Frena's son Caspar married a woman called Verena GEIGELMAN 14 January1583 in the same place and I think it is a great coincidence that the names are so close (either that or it is incorrect). I don't have access to the records to confirm the relationship. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Cindy

Hi everyone. I'm just new on GenealogyWise. On my maternal side I have Deppeler ancestors who came from Tegerfelden in Aargau canton. I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who has information that might help me.
Also any information about Swiss vignerons who emigrated to Victoria (Australia) in the 1800s. Thanks.

Hi Kathleen. I believe your Zimmermann(n) line is supposed to be from Wattenwil. My Zimmerman line is also from there, but didn't immigrate until the 1830s, whereas your line immigrated in the early 1700s. I can respond in more detail later but take a look at my page:

I am researching the Carpenter/Zimmerman lines from Berne to Pennsylvania and many related family names. I am descended from both Emmanuel and Gabriel Carpenter (sons of Henry/Heinrich Zimmerman/Carpenter).

I am researching my maiden name of Diviani which originates in Canton Ticino, specifically in the Parishes of Campello and Calpiogna. These villages are in the Leventina Valley, just south of the Saint Gottard tunnel. I have transcribed the parish records (1661 onwards) of these parishes and have substantial information of the family worldwide. I would be happy to hear from anyone who has links or connections with either the Diviani family or these villages

Hi Michal, I also have Grünig in the Burgistein area. Do you know anything earlier than what you listed? I have numerous lines in the Wattenwil, Thurnen, Belp, Forst, etc. area south of the city of Bern. There are too many to list here, but they start with Zimmerman and Wenger. See the link to my homepage on my profile for the entire list. I also have another Swiss line (Mohler) from Diegten, Canton Basel.
