I'm currently enrolled in Social Networking for Genealogists, which is one of the elective courses I'm taking for my Certificate in English Records.  I thoroughly enjoy these course, but wish I was retired so that I could delve into my genealogical studies in a more concentrated way!

What makes you think you have more time when you retire! I sometimes wish for a sickie (Australian day off for illness) to catch up, but being retired I don't get sickies anymore!

I am currently taking the 'Social Media for the Wise Genealogist' elective course. I am enrolled in the English Certificate in Genealogical Studies program and I am currently working through the advanced level mandatory courses. It is going to take me a while to become familiar with this Genealogy Wise web site as I am not at all familiar with social networking sites nor am I particularly comfortable with them. I am also retired and have absolutely no spare time!

I am also doing the Social Networking for Genealogist and am enrolled in the English Certificate.I have completed a couple of Methodology courses and my next will be a specifically English one.

I am actually enrolled in the Australian Records Certificate, but have completed all the English Records courses while waiting for the balance of the Australian ones to be provided. Just joined GenealogyWise and am exploring.  (Hi Brenda)

I am enrolled in the Social Media Tools for the Wise Genealogist course and I am interested in just learning.  I love that we have so much at our fingertips to learn from unlike how it was just a few years back.  I do feel slightly overwhelmed at times and apprehensive with all that I have had to explore, but it can only get better.  I love that I have had to get outside my comfort zone.

I am on the Social Media Tools for the Wise Genealogist.  I hope to meet like minded people through this group.

Like Fiona I am currently taking Social Media Tools for the Wise Genealogists. I am a high school science teacher. I have been attending classes at the NIGS for several years and have a few classes left before I receive my American Studies Certificate. I have found almost all the classes very worthwhile and can't wait to put it all into practice when I retire. 

I chose this group because my father's side is 100% English. My 3x great grandfather and great grandmother came to US from England circa 1850.

My 3x-ggf was the only sibling to come over...so I have many relatives in England, I haven't met.

I am currently undertaking a research project looking at the passengers on the SS Torilla and SS Roscommon that brought my parents as young children to Queensland, Australia in the early 1910s. The aim of the project is to see if any passengers/families knew others prior to departure or had contact after arriving. The research so far has found three families from Scotland that have links to my own ancestors.

At the moment I have an issue with young male passengers described as Church Army Lads and some of these lads are proving almost impossible to trace on arrival and I am currently looking at whether they returned back to England where some evidence suggests they were from Essex.

Any suggestions on where I might find records on Church Army Lads would be welcomed.
