Kathleen,
Thank you so much for contacting me. I am a family history addict and enjoy my researching so much.
My 3rd great grandfather was Gabriel Ambrose Weber/Webber, 1818 - 1901. He was born in Germany and died in Nauvoo, Illinois. He came to the United States in 1840 with his brothers, John A. and William.Gabriel and John A were tailors. His mother, Gertrud Walleborn Weber came shortly thereafter to the United States.
I live close to the Salt Lake City Family History Library and recently found evidence of Gabriel's father and mother, plus I found his maternal grandparents. I have also been given instruction on how to go back even further and will be going back to the library shortly.
I have a lot more detailed information. Are these your relations, if not, who are you looking for?

My gg grandfather was William Weber, who emigrated from Germany with his wife, Elizabeth, and several of their children (Matthew, Christian, William and Jacob), and settled in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
Unfortunately, I don't think the years add up. I don’t yet know exactly when the family came to the US, but I know that they arrived after my great grandfather, Jacob, was born. Although I'm still trying to pin down Jacob's exact birth date, the earliest date I have for him is 1870.
I appreciate your willingness to share, and I admit to being somewhat envious of your proximity to the SLC FHL ;)
Kathleen,
It doesn't sound like it's the same family. Do you have any idea where in Germany the family is from? It's hard to decipher the German records but the LDS volunteers sure do help you. If you can figure out an area I might be able to help you. Where have you looked so far?
The SLC FHL has vital record books which will be online eventually. I've heard it will take another seven years and everything in the Granite Vault will be online. I sure don't want to wait that long, though. One day we'll be able to do pretty much everything at home, I hope.
Thank you for the offer, Susanna. Right now, I'm focusing on finding more info in the US, especially since I don't know where in Germany the family originated. I'm hoping to know more once I finally make a research trip to Luzerne County.
I agree with you about the records going online - definitely something to look forward to!
My Weber/Webber's were in a few different areas when they came to the states, like Baltimore and a few different places in Pennsylvania, so realize the states are so close together they could've been anywhere around.
It would be great if you could find some family histories. They're second hand information, but family histories can be a goldmine.
Kathleen,
I searched today under "Linkpendium genealogy" and thought you might want to try that to find family histories. I found some good ones today on my great grandfather.
