My family is the Colbert Clan.  They came from James Logan Colbert,  who was a fur trader/trapper and married three Chickasaw Native woman after the Tribe took him in.  He had many children and my father was a descendant of the Levi Colbert line.  Their family had Scottish or Irish blood. Levi Colbert was a leader of the Chickasaw Nation and had been educated in schools because their family owned a large cotton field or plantation.  This line goes back to12 generations. 

I am also interested in the Bird Family line because that is the last name of my original birth certificate.  I am going to North Carolina next week to visit the area of the "Lost Colony".  There was a Bird in that group of people who were never found.  Since I am full-blood Cheyenne/Arapaho and an enrolled member of the tribe, I want to investigate that line of people.  There is a town named Arapaho close to the area of the "lost colony".  Since James Logan Colbert was said to have hired a member of "Black Beards Gang" to be a pack horseman and also, hired his father there could be a connection to our family.

I have four brothers - John, Marty, Robin and Gary.  John passed away recently, from several health issues.  I have one sister.  I want to find out if the Colbert name could have any connection to the Baltimore, Maryland Colbert/Calvert lines?
