    Hello all

I have recently joined genealogywise and I have just joined this group! I recognise some names but for those I have not yet met. I have been researching my family history for over 35 years. I have done a few of the NIGS courses over the years! I am a mum to three and live in NSW. Descendant of First Fleeters on both sides, and both sets were married on Norfolk Island (the females were the convicts!) as they were there during the first settlement. My 6 x great grandmother was born on Norfolk Island before coming with her parents back to the mainland and settling in the Hawkesbury. Another set of grandparents (maternal line) would go to Norfolk Island in the second settlement and have another of my grandparents there!
My children have confirmed heritage in Ireland; Scotland; England; Poland; Germany and we have learned have Ashkenazi Jewish heritage too.
I love genealogy as there is always something to learn.

    Hi Chez

welcome to the Aussie group.you have an interesting ancestry with first fleeters. You will have noticed a few changes in research methodology and access to records over the years.

Like you, I have found both my research into my ancestors and courses at NIGS very enjoyable. I am also living in New South Wales at Lake Macquarie and have ancestry links mainly to Scotland and Italy.

    Cheers

    Brian
