Helping Baer niece husband's family--proving old family "histories". Into the search, like all, for Andrew Whisler's wife Catherine's maiden name. Trees + Susanna Koontz' d.cert. says "HE___"
I am researching the surname Christen in Stark Co., Ohio. Gottlieb Christen (1835-1876), son of Jakob Christen and Elizabeth Seylaz of Twann, Bern, Switzerland. For a while Rudolph Mauer (Maurer) and wife Mary/Maria Christen (sister to Gottlieb) lived in Stark Co., OH. Their daughter Mary (1850-1916) married John Hahlen; both buried in the Alliance Cemetery, Alliance, Stark Co., Ohio.
Christine ... where in Virginia? Mine are so elusive that I cannot pinpoint them. I am quite sure that they tie in somehow to the Slaughter family of Virginia.

Well, my Colemans were all over VA, but the first one, Robert Coleman Sr. born 1619 in , Essex, England died in Tindalls Point, Gloucester, VA in 1689. Then there were later Colemans in Abingdon Parish, Glouster Co., and Berkley Parish, Spotsylvania Co, and Farnham Parish, Essex Co, VA. By the way, that first Robert Coleman Sr was married to Elizabeth Grizzell. I don't think I have yet seen the name Slaughter in my tree, but I will look again.
Hi Sally! Welcome! I have Millers in a couple branches of my tree, but there are so darn many Millers around, and I'm not sure if any were in Stark Co.
Thanks for the welcome, Christine. = )

Hello Everyone,
I am researching Bonebrake/Bonebright in Stark County. I have been trying to find my Revolutionary War soldier Henry Bonebrake. I have found a Henry but it ends up being his nephew.Per family history passed down over the years Henry moved near Malvern, Sandy twp. Stark County in 1813.
I am interested in the Spangler families of Stark County. Mary Mariah Spangler was born in Cumberland, PA, in 1819. Her mother died ca 1826. Raised by an uncle and either father or grandfather, she moved to Stark County.
I doubt if this will help you; I have a Spangler on my tree that I really don't know anything about (a generous cousin gave me the connection and I haven't worked back to these years yet); still similar name leads may help someone, This is what I have: Jane K. Spangler, b. 22 Apr, 1830, Stark Co. Ohio. She married Joseph C. Kimmell (which is why she shows up among my kin) 9 Sep 1847. Joseph is also from Stark Co. They moved to Noble Co, Indiana sometime after their marriage and both died in that county.
Thanks Sue, There seems to have been a large population of Spanglers in Stark County. I have identified several different families. I'm thinking that they must all be interrelated, but I have not figured out where my Mary Mariah fits in. Kimmel sounds familiar, and I'm thinking I've read the name in connection to Spangler. I ran thru my notes with no luck.
Sue, I found your Jane Spangler. She is simply listed Jane Spangler, married____ Kimmel, in 8 Centuries of Spanglers by Belmont Farley. The book is online at Ancestry.com, and her family is detailed very well, for generations. Her father is Joseph, b 1789, son of Rudolph and Christina. Mother is Elizabeth Koon. Siblings are William, John, Joseph, George, Catharine, Harriet, Mary and Margaret. Actually, it's my theory that my Mary Mariah is Joseph's niece and your Jane's cousin.
