Hi Sylvia. Thanks for joining the Tallman group. I hope we have lots of info to share. I'm in the midst of scanning that manuscript about Dirckje's run-in with the law. -- doug

Hi Sylvia: I have come across the Index of your Grand Parents Marriage in Macroom. In 1860. Did they stay in Cork, did they stay in Ireland. Had they children . Let me know , and I will have a look for you.

Hi Sylvia Have you tried researching the British military records at Kew London I live near macroom. It is highly unlikely that you will find any records in Ireland apart from Griffiths valuations. Was the family Catholic or Protestant? As you probably know "Daly" was and is a common name in Macroom.

Hi again Sylvia Many Irish historical documents including census records and vital records of the Protestant Faith were destroyed by fire in 1922 during the Civil war. Some Protestant records were kept in local custody and therefore escaped destruction There is no one place where Protestant records are therefore kept but many are in Dublin Most catholic records have been microfilmed but not on line Civil registration began in general 1864 while Protestant marriages begin 1845.Its difficult to explain in such a short time. You may be able to get John Grenhams book Tracing your Irish Ancestors regarded as the most complete and accurate.
