    Hi Glenda

Am interested in any Carroll information, any relationships to John, Ellen (brother & sister) and their cousin Mary who married William Cunningham. These Carrolls came from Ballyduff Co Kerry. Also, Margaret Shannon is of interest at the moment and she is buried at Jerilderie She married a Thomas Kelly at Berrigan in 1903 and I am trying to connect her parents as William Shannon and Mary Kennealy who came to the Deniliquin District in the latter part of 1870 from the Taralgon/Ballarat area . Cannot find a birth record for her in NSW or Vic and going on infrmation on William Shannon's DC in 1923. In 1907 Thomas Kelly married Elizabeth Shannon in Sydney and he was a publican at Berrigan and later moved his trade to a Tocumwal pub. I am trying to connect Margaret and Elizabeth as sisters.
    Thanks Glenda

    Hi Glenda

Thanks Glenda this is wonderful. The McLaughlins are related as cousins by Joseph Frederick McLaughlin marring Dorothy Jean Hanna. she was the daughter of George Patchell Hanna and Lucy Edwards. I am in touch with Ged McLaughlin who lives in Victoria. Gwen McLaughlin the wife of the late William McLaughlin, I think, still lives on a property outside Jerilderie. Any information would be appreciated. I googled Jerilderie Cemetery and found the site of the Deniliquin Genealogy page and had a look at their Jerilderie Cemetery Index. In reference to some of my Horgan ancestors there is incorrect information. GNR Edward Daniel Horgan is not buried at Jerilderie. He was lost to us as a POW on the Burma railway on the 5th July 1943 and his grave is in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery in Thailand. There is an inscription on my grandmothers grave (Lillian Margaret Horgan nee Hanna d1957) in memory of him. Also my g grandfather Daniel Horgan shares the same grave as my g grandmother Ellen Horgan (d1942) he is named as Daniel Hargan (d1880) on the index. My other g grandmother was Susan Anna Hanna (nee Smith & Hanna) and remarried a Richard Cummings in 1904 to keep the licence of the Jerilderie Hotel. She is buried in the Hanna Plot as Susan Anna Cummings (d1911), along side her daughter Ivy who died in 1898. Michael Horgan who died in 1916 is buried in the RC. He was my uncle and only lived for a few hours. Two years ago my family placed a memorial plaque on his grave. He is not on the index. We did this with the help of Lisa Brice of Jerilderie Shire Council.
From Attestation papers WW1 for Richard Shannon he gave an address of his NOK his sister, Miss Catherine Shannon, Federal Hotel, Berrigan. I wonder if this was the Hotel Thomas Kelly had.
I love Harry Potter, have a great time. I will ask you about Berrigan Cemetery as I have some Ryan relations buried there. I also have a cousin Gerald whom I havn't seen for years living there with his wife Isabelle.
    Regards

    Hi Glenda

Thanks for the details on the Ryan graves at Berrigan. Another brickwall or 2 has been demolished. The grave of Driver Gerald Ryan (1942) is actually the brother of Michael (Mick) Ryan. He died of illness whilst with the army in 1942. My cousin Gerald was born in 1942 and he was named after this chap, who was his uncle. The last time I spoke with Father John McGrath of Berrigan/Jerilderie parishes (about 2 years ago) he told me he held Gerald in high regard for the social work he was doing in the town. Isabel his wife sometimes rings my sister Maureen in Orange NSW with some family news, Gerald is not interested in family history and that is why, I guess, I have never contacted him.
    Thanks a million

    Hi Glenda

Wonder if you could do me a quick favor and have a look in your Jerilderie Cmeetery Boob. William Cunningham died 1909 and buried in the RC section. Is there any other information showing. I have him as being the husband of Mary Carroll who died in Jerilderie 1943.

    Regards

    Hi Glenda
Another part of my family buried in the RC section of the Jerilderie Cemetery is the Curtin link. Cornelius John, Cornelius Francis, Townsend Ian, Jane (nee Murphy) and there maybe 1 or 2 more buried there. If you have the time and not too much trouble. Thanks Glenda.
