I have a line of Skeeters and have read your comments on David Skeeters and Catherine Turner. My Skeeters were in Kentucky, Parke County IN and then Iroquois County Illinois. In the 1855 Illinois census there is a David Skeeters who could fit the age of your David, i.e 60-70 years. My other Skeeters, all in close proximity, are James (also 60-70 who is my ggg grandfather), his sons D.P., Joseph, and Willis (my great, great grandfather). Do you information linking this to your research?
