Hi, Bob! Thanks for leaving that information for Marie in the "Wales and Welsh Genealogy" group. I'm in the process of applying for birth certificates from the GRO for a many family members as possible (a few at a time, of course). I already received the first few I requested. I missed on one of them and got a certificate for the wrong person. Next time, I'll try using the parents names, too.
Hi Bob,
I posted some family surnames and haven't received a response. I'm working from family stories as to my ancestry and who knows. Is there a possible way to check to see if any of the following existed in Wales, Ireland, Scotland or England prior to 1800: TIFFEE/TIFFIE, OLLAR/OLLER/OLER, MAYS/MAYES, and GARNER. All of these were in the US prior to 1800 but no origin. Any help to locate their whereabouts in Europe would certainly be appreciated. This would at least give me a place to start searching.
Thanks, Bill Tiffee Oregon, USA
