Lisa, If you do find something in the Cumbria archives I might be able to have a look - it won't be soon but I need to go back there to chase some of my Alnwick [surname] relatives.
  • J.R. Fox

Lisa....Do you know where I can find older newspaper archives but specifically obits from about 1909?
  • J.R. Fox

Hey Buddy....Sounds like fun! I need to go visit my parents soon. The weather is going to be nice this weekend here. Hope all is well!
  • Carolyn Jarvis

Hi Lisa.. thanks for the invite to be friends. Sounds good to me
  • Sonia Hamilton

Hi Lisa, thank you for your help. That is not my Wm John Hamilton. I have him in the 1881 census in Sheenboro Que. in the 1891 census his wife Mary Manning is listed as a widow and her and the children are living with relatives in Sheenboro. I have never heard of Seeleys Bay but I suppose anything is possible!
  • Sonia Hamilton

Hi Lisa, I appreciate your help, it is very kind of you. These Hamilton's get me so frustrated sometimes. I think, that Wm John Hamilton died in Quebec, becaue that is the last place I have him on the 1881 census, but Sheenboro Que. is so close to Renfrew, Ontario is hard to say really. The story in the family is Wm. was a carpenter and left home to work someplace else and never came back. But, the only job I have found Wm doing is farmer. He never owned land always worked on someone elses. I keep hunting thru the census! :)
  • Janie Sickle

Those are the trees that were put up and nothing was verified. I am putting up new ones on ancestry, verifying everything this time. I want to be able to write a family history for my daughter and know that the information is correct. And thank you again for all the information. Do you keep hard copies of your information??
  • Sonia Hamilton

hi Lisa, do not think these Mannings are mine, none of the names look familiar and Tom's dad said Mary's mother came from Ireland. I think the name got changed in English, maybe it is Manny or variation of it.
  • Sonia Hamilton

I have not seen this web site before. She is over there and would certainley know where to search or have access to records that I don't. I will use this for sure.
  • Sonia Hamilton

I have a bit of my tree on Ancestry, a little thing abt that i dont understand tho. Otherwise there is that tree already on genweb i think it is. Although that looks to be from the initial one Homer started, so not up to date like mine. Maybe I should make a new one but I dont know how.
  • Sonia Hamilton

Hi Lisa, Pontiac County is not in the Eastern Townships, they are south east and Pontiac Cty is south west. Pontiac county is in the Outaouais region, just across from Ottawa. But this lady in the Eastern townships might have access to records that I never heard of! So is a good thing and i will hang on to her. Thank you
  • Sonia Hamilton

Absolutely no problem, I am glad you are helping me with your experience. And the lady on the website you sent, researches in Quebec so must read and speak french, So is two thumbs up in my book. lol, am keeping her site and writing her. also, East Twps up toward Montreal is how I see it, and many from Ireland and wherever, landed in Montreal and came down or went in to Ontario.
  • Sonia Hamilton

That sounds interesting Lisa, I have gone thru census in Renfrew and big church there, that was a while ago, i go thru it every now and again, but dont find anything. I was wondering if it be worthwhile to join the Ottawa valley gen society, maybe even the Pontiac one. I dont know, will keep trying myself I think for a bit. Thank you for your help Lisa.
  • Sonia Hamilton

LOL so far just the Hamiltons and maybe the Mannings/Manny's there. I got the Marcottes, the Marcella's all seem to be in SHeen, but am not sure If mine actually connected to them ones so , maybe the Marcella's/Marcellais as well. :)
  • Sonia Hamilton

maybe he hers, she searching in that area?
  • Pete Val

    Thanks Lisa!!!
  • Pete Val

    Thanks Lisa...I don't think he's black though
  • Pete Val

    Lisa,

Thanks for the work, but neither is my Patrick. This is what I know from Death Certificates and family papers. Patrick was born in NY in 1853 (per death certificate). He had a sister Margaret, one or two years younger. Patrick married a Margaret(Maggie) ? (from Caren Lehto based on pilot - Maggie's last name was Troy). Caren found a marriage record for Patrick's daughter Mae Ellen. Patrick and Maggie had several children in Iowa, Webster County, city of Clare: George Francis, James, Mae Ellen, Charles, and Lauretta (my wife's grandmother). From what we can tell, Maggie died right after one of the children was born. The next time I find Patrick is 1900 Census in Ward Co., North Dakota with his sons and Lauretta. Maggie is not found any time after. Lauretta is found married with my wife's grandfather, Clarence Berggren with her aunt Margaret Caufield (Patrick's sister) in later Census records. Lauretta married Clarence, had their only son in Wisconsin and then moved to Louisiana where the rest of Clarence's family was. This is all I have. I have been in contact with Lauretta's family from North Dakota and they have no information on Patrick's wife's maiden name. One cousin said she thought it was Mary Gannon but I can't find any documentation on that either.
    Thanks,
    Pete
  • john armstrong

thanks but i have world ancestry
  • Sonia Hamilton

Hi Lisa, thank you. I kept the site you sent me on the census. I appreciate you help, I never knew about it being taken 9mths later. Certainley something to think of when am searching here. That day I asked I was in the middle of doing three things, typical woman! I had been thinking about the census and the dates so decided to pop in and ask. I should have stayed longer but couldn't. also should have explained myself in the room. thank you for your help.
  • Sonia Hamilton

Lisa, where are the Norris's from you are searching?
  • Linda Berube Inch

Hi Lisa: My name is Linda. Recently you left a comment, I believe to a Mr. Mooney about a Patrick Brennan. My great grandfather was James Brennan, the son of James Brennan Senior and Julia Doughan . My James and Julia emmigrated from Ireland and ended up in a place called Sheenboro/Chapeau Quebec. I just came from there yesterday on what I call a Bones and Stones Tour and took photos of different Graves, I did take James Sr and Patrick. If you wish to email me at any time if these Brennans are yours, please let me know and I will be pleased to either send you the photos or if someone can show me how to post them here I can try that route too. Hope to hear from you soon.
  • Cindy58

    Dear Lisa,
Of course she died in 1886 and did you read the comment that I left for you on the Ancestry.Com page about the other Daniel and Harriett Ballew. The younger one is Daniel's son but he is one of my grandfathers also because his daughter Elizabeth Ballew married David Brooks who are the parents of my grandmother. My grandmother Flora Jane Brooks married Landrum Ballew . Landrum Ballew's father John Jackson and Elizabeth Ballew's father Daniel are brothers. The older Daniel Ballew and Mary Harriet Jackson are their parents. I will rectify my mistake on the Jackson board. TY Lisa.
  • Cindy58

Dear Lisa, Yes some of my cousins do have her listed as dying in 1885. The reason the second Daniel was not in any of the later census is because he died in Forsyth , Georgia in the Confederate hospital there. This another clue that he is a brother to this family because there is documentation that 3 Ballew Brother , Langston Green , John Jackson and Daniel all signed up for the Civil War on the same day in Springplace , the closes town to where they lived in Murray County. Cindy
  • Susan Trudell

    Dear Lisa,
I had seen the 1850 census. The spelling is off and if this is the family, what happened to Barbary and Elizabeth? The 1860 census shows the correct spelling for the last name with Eliz, the mother and children living with her are: John (age is two years off) and Margret. Louis is living next door with his wife Sophia and Henry is in the next county. Do you think that Margret is Elizabeth? The age is correct. Susan
  • Donna

    Hi Lisa ...
I am doing real well on my Kaiser search. A really nice lady from Austin, Texas has helped me out a lot. She has been researching the same family, she had questions, and I was able to give her some answers. I'll be removing some of my search names, and adding new ones.
    take care ...... donna
  • Emiko L Lanier

    Hi Lisa,
I am grand daughter of William Henry Lanier (1855-1929) who was son of Dr. Isaac Dickson Lanier (1830-1871) from Autaguaville, AL (Huntsville, AL). My grandfather's mother was slave nurse given to Isaac when he started studying as physician. I am looking for more black side of the Lanier family. Please let me know if you had come accross the black family fathered by Isaac or by his children.
He had sons, William Dickson, Clemont Tracy and Sydney D. Lanier.

    Lisa,
Keep Digging!!! Genealogy is so rewarding as we reconstruct our family histories.
Most of my research was done the old fashion way using various state and national archive.sources. I am delighted to see how the internet bring various researchers together. As you know source documents proving relationships is key to successful genealogy. As an African American Researcher, it is necessary to research the genealogy of slave holding families and their slaves over several generations. I have been fortunate to have a rich oral history for my family which I have used as the roadmap for discovery.
  • nancy ann cole

Hi Lisa- I am on Geneology too. My husband and I used to have a summer place in Priest River, on the East side of the river (On the River) across from where the Raynors and the Rothenbuehlers lived. Next door to Scotty. The Perrins bought our place in 1983. I loved it up there, tho I only got to go there in the summertime for a short time. I was a building contractor back then here in California, Orange Co. and some L.A. Co. and Riverside Co. too. Retired now. Tired too. Lorraine Rothenbuehler was my best friend. Take care, Nancy ann Cole
  • nancy ann cole

Hi Lisa- Yes, my friends, Vern and Lorraine Rothenbuehler are buried in the Priest Cemetery. Frank Parsons who owned the Parsons Marina was a friend . Also Don and Gladys Karli who now live in Santa Maria. Wyane and Flossie Raynor now live in Missouri. He lives with his nephew, and she is in a nursing home with Alzheimers, and blind. Flossie is Lorraines sister.Vic Jones was a friend of ours too. We used to belong to the Priest River Yacht Club, which probably is no more. Do the Perrins still live across the river in our old place.?? Frank Parsons and his first wife Lila divorced before 1990. He married, divorced and married again before he died. Lila remarried and moved to someplace around Couer D'Ileane (?) spelled it wrong !!When we lived there, there was nothing around that lake. talk to u again, Nancy
  • nancy ann cole

Lorraine's son died in a jeep accident in Colville probably around 1990.His name was Fred Rothenbuehler. Ever hear of that accident ? He and his girlfriend and her children all lived on the outskirts of Coleville.Isn't that near the Canadian border ? nancy
  • Mary Beth

Lisa, thanks for the information. It's funny the dates are correct, but the his residence is wrong.
  • Mary Beth

Yep, his residence at deat was Gwynedd Square. I've seen mistakes on all kinds of records. Thanks.
  • Mary Beth

Thanks Lisa I'll take a look at it.
  • nancy ann cole

    Hi Lisa

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

By the way, I received a card from Gladys Karli, and she wrote that her husband, Don passed away in May. She used to live on the west side of the Priest River, close to the Raynors and the Rothenbuehlers who lived just where the city water line stopped back in the early 80's . the Karlie's lived closer to the Pend Oreille river, but on the Priest River.. The Raynors/Rothenbuehlers did have city water, I remember. They had a 5-7 acre piece of property, that went down a little grade to flatland and an older 2 story home, a large barn and a mobile home there too. and a large weeping willow tree along the river. Across  the river from them, the people had a block retaining wall, low, along the river.  take care, nancy cole

  • Robert O. LaBonte Sr.

Hi Lisa, I have'nt been in here for a long time. This is Robert O.LaBonte Sr..

Did you know I am building a family tree, and I need your help. Our tree starts with a gentleman named Anthony Dandurand dit Marcheterre son of Jean Dandurand born 1637 in France. I don't know if you know the story of the clan, I need help with the Marcheterre's. I have over 2,000 entries on our tree, if you know of any family members of Marcheterre, I would appreciate any information that you can give me. What I have is a lot of young Marcheterre's in the 15 to 30 years old group. I need to know where to add them on the branches of my tree. I do not know if you can help me or not, even a little will help.

    Bless You

    Robert

    Hi Lisa,

Good news, I found their burial location in England.  Thank you anyway.

  • Ms. Gerry Hill

Lisa you ask how they could have your ggg whatever-grandmother's birth date and no parents. There are several ways including a family bible, grave, letters written etc. In the earliest census you find her-check the folks under and over her- I usually do 5 or 8. After you give up there, research the sibings. I have foud more in my over 30 years in the lines of the sibings, than in mine.
