My name is Wayne Vallowe. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and now live in Ashland, OH. My ancestral family comes from the village of Venne, Lower Saxony, Germany. Would you have anything on the the Vallowe's in Venne?I look forward to hearing from you.
I am in the process of reading the book at this time. And yes, our family is from the Friedrich Conrad / Dorothee Langkamp lineage. I recently mailed a letter to a Vallowe family member in Venne trying to re-connect. I am hoping for a response. Our cousins are the Slater's who are funeral directors in the Pittsburgh Area. Although contact with the Slaters/Venne stopped in 1970,s, probably due to the elderly members of the families dying. However,it seems that Tim Slater (Mt. Oliver) is the only one who has carried on the information regarding the Vallowe. He has a portrait og his Great-Great-Grandmother Johanna Fredericka Vallowe Slater in the foyer of his funeral home. She married John H. Slater, Sr. I do have a silly question although i have been taught that there is no such thing, are you in the US or Germany? Wayne
I have been looking through the documents left by my uncle. I appears that he spent more time on the Scottish side of the family (my grandmother/his mom) than the german than the German. But I found some sheets that had dialog with Kathy Langkamp from 2005 containing your name and concerning the Slater family. regarding Johanna Fredrika Vallowe, my uncle left notes saying he remembered an Aunt Johanna. My great grandfather was Heinrich Wilhelm Vallowe (b.1877) who married Nellie Storey. . I was hoping for more information but it looks like I will have to start with my great grandfather and work back from there. oh well. This is going to be fun. i did see that you dad was born in Monroe IL though.
