I'm interested in the connection there is between Kinsale and Barbados and therefore Charleston in South Carolina. I know one of the slaves my ancestor, Charles Drayton, owned was called Kinsale. Charles's diary is dated from the late 18th / early 19th centuries. He owned Drayton Hal just outside Charleston. I know our mutual ancestor, Thomas Drayton, left Gravesend on the "Willing Wind" bound for Barbados stopping at Kinsale on route. Is there a museum in Kinsale highlighting this part of history? There must have been numerous sailings between Kinsale and the West Indies / Americas. I've even heard about Irish slaves. Is that true?
