interested in your search for O'REILLY. I have been searching for my Grandfathers details, James Bartholomew Aloysius O'Reilly, found his marriage and death in Launceston Tasmania, cannot find his birth - there is one unnamed male born in the year of his birth but still trying to verify any details of that family. His father and mother are completely unknown to me and I tried to find your Bernard -found Francis born 1849 at Hobart as you have mentioned. My maternal GGrandfather was an overseer at Port Arthur after he was freed as a convict. Looking for any written confirmation of that fact.
Was hoping your Bernard was connected to my family. Will keep searching.
Thanks for your prompt reply. Would be more than please to share any info found. I assume my GGrandfather came from Ireland and met his wife here - whether in Tasmania or interstate I don't know. Did he have other children - don't know, not even his name.
I thought there must be some of the O'Reilly family looking. Most of my fathers siblings moved from Launceston to Victoria so there must be lots out there somewhere.
I have found (after reading your details) a Bernard O'Reilly who died in Launceston 21/07/1897. Do you have evidence of the death of Bernard? Was it 1893 as in your comments. I am probably grasping at straws - any O'Reilly is better than none. Gives me something to look into - have come to a deadend - for the moment.
