Gloria, great to hear from you. We do have a website for the "Yankee Slayton" families, it does not get much activity and it would be wonderful to have a new Slayton on it. It is administered by someone else although my partner Clinton Slayton set it up. He is the Southern Slayton line.
Your son would not qualify for DNA as he is thru the female line, it has to be a male Slayton carrying the name. If George could do one that would be wonderful. Sometimes Ancestry.com has a special price on DNA testing, so we could check on that. I am not sure what the cost is right now, but we do like to have the 46 marker test.
We are currently working on trying to get a Slayton in England to do a test so we can see if they connect with these American lines.
Could you send me your email so we could go direct and I can invite you to the Slayton site. We need full name and address to put on the list and send the invitation. It is totally free but private, in this internet world research is easily grabbed by "others" with name collecting habits.
Going thru a public site is a little toooooo public.
Tons of the Slayton's were in Vermont, we have a photo of a young boy and girl we are trying to trace to a family. We have several photos and would love to have you put a photo on the site of your earliest identified ancestor. Regards Julia O. Mitchel

Gloria, well life gets in the way of genealogy sometime. We would love to have you join the "Yankee" Slayton website. It is free but private, just for Slaytons and relatives who are interested in getting the facts correct. I do not know how to get in touch with you outside of this site, and we would love to send you an invitation but need your name, address, and email. You can reach me at juliaom@windstream.net.
Any Slaton, Slatton, Slayton, Slayden is welcome to contact me, we have three Slaton/Slayton related name websites. One is the Yankee site, the Arthur and Rachel, VA, site, and Slaton, Slayton, Slayden Family Project. We post documents, photos, and family group information, and respect the privacy of the "living" people.
Gloria, as you can tell from our last comment on Oct 2010 that I don't come on here a lot.
Our Slaton,Slayton,Slayden site is still running, and the "Yankee" site is still on, but not very active.
Can you send me your direct email and I need your addy and will sent it to the site administrator and get him to send you an invitation. It is a free but private site for Slayton descendants. You can add photos and history and info.
The DNA has to be the direct male line with the surname, so thru the mother it is a different DNA.
