Hi Cheryl - That was interesting reading about the 2nd Mississippi I found one website where it told about the fighting on July 1st. http://www.2ndmississippi.org/2nd_miss_part_1/dw_2_MS_INF_web_part_... Harry Pfantz' book The First Day has some good maps and I will scan them when I get my scanner working again. The 2nd Miss. came onto the field as part of General A P Hill's corps and were north of an unfinished railroad on the west side of town. They initially had great success chasing Union forces in front of them. The railroad cut through a hill at this point and the 2nd Ms. was caught in there by the 6th Wisconsin and it was either surrender or be slaughtered. So they surrendered. Here is a simple map of July 1st action http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gettysburg_Battle_Map_Day1.png. 2nd Ms would be in the red band northeast of the unfinished railroad. I am going to Gettysburg tomorrow and Saturday to work and will run out there and shoot some pictures. Probably will be Saturday since I have to come right home after my afternoon tour as tomorrow is bowling night. Saturday is supposed to be warm an d will take my dog with me. I have an afternoon tour and a night time tour. Here is a picture of the Mississippi monument http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=2nd+Mississippi+monument+at+Get...
I work for the Farnsworth House in Gettysburg Friday and Saturday afternoon doing tours of hte house talking about the battle in that little corner of Gettysburg. Hi Cheryl, I don't have a copy of the book, only Pat Johnson did. I did the research on the Morton line.

It's been a number of years but you may be able to reach her at patricia@moment.net. I don't recall what else was covered in the book. Good luck.
