I was wondering how much success you have had tracking down any relatives or in your research into the names listed? I live on Nipissing First Nations which is part of the Garden River Res......
Marilyn, I see we share many similar stories! I was adopted in 1946 in B.C. But my GGG Grandfather came from Quebec in the early 1800s and his family came from France in the 1600s. Not a whisper of any First Nations Ancestry growing up, and my Mongolian Mark was something I explained to my friends by telling them that's where my tale fell off! Not sure where THAT came from! Finally found my birth roots about 2000 when B.C. opened up adoption records and there to my surprise were native roots - from B.C. and Washington State. Those men who came to BC early [from Germany or France] had to marry someone, and of course it was the indigenous women. The Spanish sounding names have thrown me.
