Hi Judy. I saw in the Look-Up Angel group that you might be willing to do a look up in Greenup Cty, KY.
I am trying to find the burial place and death date of my gggg-grandmother, Nancy Wolfe Swaney. The Swaneys moved to Greenup between 1860 and 1870 census from Beaver County, PA. My direct ancestor, James Swaney, son of Nancy and George Swaney, may have been there as early as 1860, since he shows up in the census for Greenupsburg, Greenup County, Kentucky as a 24-year-old day laborer.
The 1870 census for Precinct 1 (P.O. Greenupsburg), Greenup County, Kentucky shows Henry Swaney (age 31), Nancy Swaney (age 63), Samuel Swaney (age 19), Eliza J. Swaney (age 22), and Orville Allison (age 1) all in the same household.
The 1880 census for Liberty, Greenup County, Kentucky, shows Henry Sweany, age 43, and wife Sarah (age 38). No other Swaneys are evident, but could have died, married and changed names, or moved.
Because Nancy was born in 1816, and I have not been able to locate her with any of the other children, there's a good possibility that she died between 1870 and 1880 (though I suppose she could have remarried). I am wondering if your local library would have any cemetery indexes or other resources, that might help me locate her. I would be more than willing to reimburse for any copies.
I would also be interested if you came across a death date for Henry Swaney (have also seen it spelled Sweaney/Sweney/etc.).
I live in Iowa, and if you need any look-ups here, I would be happy to return the favor.
