Hello Heather, I have just found I have a maternal/mitochondrial U5a1b1 so really intersted to check others with this. Am in Australia, the mitochrondria came from Ireland in 1849 with my 17 year old famine orphan clever strong girl from Galway.. so no records left and no knowledge. However believed we went back to Norway/Denmark thru vikings in Ireland, because of face and body form.. do you have further info? had test with 23and me... their maps show the scandinavian connection back to 10,000 years. Have you got further info?

    Hi Heather,

I was told on a visit to the US a couple of years ago by several people about viking constructions and settlements in the uS form way back. That these still were there as historic sites. Of course there would be mixed marriages and they would meld in.

And of course contamination etc would be blamed for the unexpected. Plus the spanish and later invaders would have donated more than smallpox!

Sounds like a good bit of healthy outbreeding to me, and excellent for the descendents.

    I agree about the look.
Its still unclear if there is a more specific origin site for the b1 part, its later and only a couple of people talking about it on each site... lots for the U5, U5b1 etc
