Bob, I just read your post and wanted to stop by and say it is a wonderful thing you are doing. To assist others with the big hurdles of trying to prove their lineage to join the DAR or SAR. In your post, you said you could assist an adult male or Jr for the SAR. I was just on the SAR website and did not find anything pertaining to the Juniors. Specifically, it must be 18 years of age. How old is the juniors that they will accept?
We have not proven our lineage yet, still working on it and getting the documentation. But, I have a son who would be interested in joining once we prove this. Thanks again!
I too have relatives that fought in the Battle of King's Mountain. They are Hiram, Robert and Charles Kilgore. Robert is my 5th great grandfather. He was killed by indians in 1782 in Wise Co. North Caroline. Hiram and Charles were killed in the battle. Ft, Kilgore was built by my grandfather and still stands today on private land.
Hope you are having a great year so far! Please accept this little ribbon as my way of saying, while I may not visit GW much these days, I have not forgotten.
Terri O'Connell
