    Hi Jim,
I have about 250 or so Herzbergs. Most still live in Iowa.

Not that I know of; my grandmother's family (Wagoner) still meets annually, but I don't think the Herzbergs on my grandfather's side meet. I never lived in Iowa, though I am in touch with a few of the relatives there and visit once in a while.

To the best of my knowledge, yes. The earliest Herzberg I have found is Diedrich Christoph (Christian?) Herzberg, 1769-1846 in Hoyerhagen. He had at least 7 children; the only one I have further information on is his son Diedrich Luedeke Conrad Herzberg (1813 in Hoyerhagen Germany -1887 in Clarinda, Iowa). He, his wife Gesche Elisabeth? Sophia Cordes, and their 5 living children came to the US in about 1868. They lived in Cook County, Illinois. Their daughter, Margaret, married an August Siebrandt and they stayed in Cook County. The 4 sons all moved to Page County, Iowa in the 1870s. The two older brothers, Albert & Herman, were married in Cook County before moving to Iowa; the other two (John Henry & Diedrich Richard Dick) married in Page County, Iowa and stayed there.
