Hi Marlana Dee, I'm also new to this site. Your name jumped out at me real quick. I have relation with that name and was woundering if you could be kin. The Marlana Dee Ferguson that I knew grew up in What Cheer, Iowa and her parents were Cleo and Bertha Strong-Ferguson. Do hope I have finally found you.

Hi Marlana - Thanks for joining my group/ I recently sent a message to the group, but don't know if it was before or after you joined. I was wondering if you traced your Averys back to the Dedham (MA) Branch of the Averys. DNA does not suggest that I am related to the Groton Averys or the Pound Ridge group. I have some close matches with the Dedham Branch. There is a book about the Groton Averys on www.archive.org which you can read on line. Welcome to Gen Wise. I am in the chatroom quite a lot stop in and say hi. Jim
Hi - we corresponded a while ago. Then I got a job and didn't get back to this as much as I would like. I am still researching the Averys. I should explain - I am retired and got a part time job. My Averys are from northern PA where my great great grandfather appears to have been born about 1784. His name is Jacob. The Averys appear out of no where and most of them seem to disappear.
Have you checked the Averys from North Carolina? Col. Isaac Avery who was killed at Gettysburg was from there. They are not related to mine as far as I can tell unless it is way back. You might also want to checkout the Groton Clan of the Averys. It is on line at Google Books (I think)
I am a tour guide at Gettysburg. I work for the Farnsworth House, a bed and breakfast. I do strictly history tours in the afternoon on weekends and within the next week or so will be doing them a couple weekdays too. I am also a ghost hunter and do ghost hunts a couple nights a week. I am having a blast. If you are interested in paranormal stuff check out my Forum discussion called Paragenealogy - A Case History.
