    have McGowan's in my family history early on, but can't figure out how they are related. I see them as godparents, or living with descendants, or being a witness to their weddings.

    Anyway, I'd love to exchange family information. We don't have much on John Hood Smith, except what my paternal grandmother can remember. She was little when her mother died. My grandmother was 9 years old.

    7 sisters and 1 brother in her family.

    Elmyna, Emma Laura, Lois Arlene, my grandmother Vesta Agnes (she goes by Agnes), John Hood Frank, Grace Geraldean (she goes by Gerry), Levina Carmendean who passed away back in 2000, Mary Francis (she goes by Francis), and Dorthy Fay.
