Hi Laura,

Re: "I have a problem with my Swedish research. My great great grandparents came to America in the 1850's. They arrived in Boston and traveled to meet up with family in Illinois. The husband's name was Olaf Johnson. My family members and I can not find..."
Your goal at this point is to find the Swedish parish they came from! Who came? full names. Children? What year? 1850-s still early in Swedish immigration... the big wave did not start until after 1865. This should make it a bit easier. If you know the exact year, then you can find the ship manifest which may have some clues.
You say, Stockholm, you think. Why do you think Stockholm? What was his likely trade? Note that Stockholm has many parishes. You will need to know which. All records were kept by parish.
