Madeline Chevalier (born in WI) or "Ellen" as she became known was enrolled as a full-blood Mdewakanton Sioux in Minnesota.  She could have been one of several bands and I would have to do much more research.  (She, in fact was less than full but that is irrelevant.)   She exists in the Indian Census and in the 1900 Census and that is just from the little research I could do last night.  I have been researching another branch of this family for a friend.  (I specialize in Indian inquiries.)

I hope I have given you a few bits of information.

Madeline was considered a full-blood and her Husband, Amable, was considered 1/2 White Earth.  (He was also Canadian Native.)
Both fun and confusing your line.  Documentation is easy here, but I am unclear if you would qualify for enrollment.  Much depends on the tribe and you generation away from these individuals.  You are definitely a descendent of at least 2 tribes and a Canadian Band.

I'll look around.  There is an 1840 US Census WI Territory that includes Francois but of course does not name the spouse.

Let me see what I can come up with....
