Inkster family originating from Burra Isle in the Shetland Islands,
The story of the Inkster family is one of plenty of intermarrying in the Shetland islands far north above Scotland. Their lifestyle was for long one of crofting, with the men often being away at sea fishing and the women looking after the land and the children.
Tracing back further though, we come to more illustrious lifestyles, linking through two illegitimate sons of James V, King of Scotland, to scores of Scottish nobles and royalty all over Europe.
