Joseph Silverthorn house

This home was built by Joseph Silverthorn ca. 1822, replacing the earlier log cabin. The number of windows and panes of glass denote an expensive home for the times. Both the home and the land were known as Cherry Hill. Joseph Silverthorn's acquired by Free Grant Lot 11, 1st Concession North of Dundas Street in 1806 in Toronto Twp. (later Cooksville and now Mississauga), Ontario. The home and land were still in his hands at his death 12 Jul 1879. The home was moved to another site within Mississuaga and restored, becoming a restaurant. It was closed at the time we visited and took these pictures in 2008.
