Leonard and Nannie were married May 07, 1914. Beattyville, Lee Co. Kentucky.Together they had 12 children, 3 died very young.Cord Deaton their oldest living son, came to Michigan in 1945, looking for work. He found a job at Stanley Cornell’s Lumber Company on M-59 in Howell. In 1948 Cord sent a letter back home to Kentucky to his mom and pop to let them know that he was barrowing a state truck from Stanley Cornell, and would be back to Kentucky in about a week, to move the whole family to Michigan. Cord and Ernie Lykins took the truck and started back to Kentucky.
Leonard had spent his whole life in Kentucky, he had decided that he didn’t want to move to Michigan. Leonard got family and friends to get together and move them farther back into the mountain’s where no one would find them. The day before everyone was going to come move them into the mountain’s, Cord showed up with Ernie Lykins to move them to Michigan.
Leonard and the older boys went to work for Stanley Cornell’s Lumber Company. Leonard remained at the lumber company for 2 years before he retired.
Leonard and Nannie spent the remainder of there lives in Michigan and are both burried on Flemming Rd in between Howell and Fowlerville in Flemming West / Howell Cemetery.
