Way long ago a JOHN FOLK fought in the Rev War. He had children, my my, yes he did. HE died in 1793 in Greenwich Township, Berks Co PA. I have his WILL.

His son Peter Sr was born in 1773 in Berks Co we believe. He dies Perry Co. PA 1823.

His son Peter Jr was born in Perry Co. PA and married Susanah Martin Showalter, and they had William Henry,

What's it about advertising?

I can't understand what so many people hate -- literally hate -- about advertising. First of all, it greases the skids of the economy. It brings sellers together with potential buyers. It helps buyers know about what's available and some of the pertinent data including price. It helps make purchasing decisions. It helps sellers sell and thus stay in business and do such things as provide a boost to our economy. Read that as jobs for people who manufacture, ship, and sell, etc..

Gifts - how can I remove this thing from My Page?

Does anyone know how to remove the Gifts thing from 'My Page'?

I have moved it to the bottom, where it is less intrusive, but I am concerned that any number of unwanted gizmos could be added without any say from the individuals on whose pages they are being placed.

It is not a nice development.

How my Windows 7 installation went

As you know, I've been pretty excited to install Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 7. It was released today. Early this morning I checked out different software store's websites to see if they had any great specials. To my surprise, many of the stores said the software was already out of stock. Genealogy of Communities: Faith-based Organizations.

The Bird in Bodega Bay on the Head.

Last April (08) my son and my MOM and I went for a drive and to dinner in Bodega Bay. We drove around where the boats are now all parked instead of where they were when I was a youth. We went out on the Head and Al took many pictures of the bay, the ocean, the animals. We saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, and many birds. There was this one seagull that decided to be a friend, or entertain us.

The Families of Detweiller Park – Peoria, Illinois

Parks often have a genealogical connection. Detweiller Park, in Peoria, Illinois, has the distinction of being connected to several local families. A large number of family names surface while reminiscing about this park.

Welcome to the Heart of the Family

Doors are more than just doors.....Perhaps this cryptic statment would benefit from some clarification. Any one of us could look at a door and say, "that's an aluminum frame with screen to keep bugs out and let the breezes in. Or..."what a grand slab of carved wood with leaded glass inserts and gleaming hardware.

New FamilySearch roll-out -- nearing the end

According to the New.FamilySearch.org Utah and Idaho Release, News and Information site, by October 26, 2009 the Bountiful, Utah Temple District with have complete access to New FamilySearch. In addition, all but five of the Stakes in the Draper Temple District will also have access to the program. This leaves only three Salt Lake Valley Temple Districts; the Jordan River, Oquirrh Mountain and Salt Lake Temples.

Amazing week for genealogy!

This has been quite a week! Over the weekend my aunt visited and she lent me some photos and documents, which I scanned. She has the most amazing collection of family information. I still can't believe some of the things she has! I am so grateful that she shared it with me. I even found the name of the town in Germany that one of my great-great-grandmothers was born in. Research success

I recently planned (and have since taken) a trip to Mildura, Victoria, which was going to include some family history research. I recently purchased the death certificate for Maria GROSE, my 3 x Great Grandmother, whose death was registered at Mildura in 1945. (This is a line for various reasons I have not done a lot of research on). I was going to visit the cemetery and visit her final resting place. Never presume.
