This is a big brick wall that I have been banging up against.

My grandfather, Edward Monroe Fuller died at the age of 32. He left a widow and three children. The ages of the children were 2, 4 and 6. They could not remember their father. The 4 year old was my mother Dorothy Fuller Dunn.

What is ironic is that my grandfather could not remember his parents. He did not know who his parents were.

My research findings show that he was born May 3, between 1897 and 1898. He was born somewhere in Indiana. His death certificate says Frisco Indiana. There is no Frisco Indiana. I am thinking that it was most likely Francisco Indiana. There is also a Bristol Indiana. Both Francisco and Bristol Indiana are in Perry County Indiana. This is in Southern Indiana, close to the Illinois border.

In 1910, at the age of 13 he is found living in Reynoldsville Illinois in Union County. He is a boarder in the home of a Forrest family.
He served in WW one and was a sergeant in the Provost Guard Company
He married my grandmother Zella May Stapleton in 1919. They were living in Delta MO.
They had one child at that time, Silver B Fuller. Silver B died at the age of one from diphtheria.
They moved to Cairo Illinois In 1928 hewas working on the traffic bridge at Cairo whenn he fell from the bridge and drowned.
i hagve more info buth this site is giving me problmems I have a lead into his possible parents

MOre info on Edward Monroe Fuller.

I have a lead into who his parents may have been. In the 1910 census for Perry County Indiana there is a Ruthy J Fuller living in the home of George Wyman as a servant, In the same household is a Eddy M Fuller age 2 listed a boarder. Eddy M's birthdate is May 3 1898.

Futher research reveals that a Ruthy Jane King and a William Fuller were married in February in Perry CO that same year. A year later Ruthy J is remarried to a Anderson and they have a son.

There is not record of the birth of a child between Ruthy J King and William Fuller.

Any help would be appreciated. i will answer any questions that I can.
Hi Sandra-
Do you have his death certificate? I'm guessing if Edward didn't know then the informant wouldn't have known either? Do you have Edward or his mother on the 1900 census?
The informant on his death certificate was his widow, my grandmother Zella May Stapleton Fuller. I am sure she didn't know anything for certain, and having just lost her husband she probably was not in the best frame of mind anyway.

The next census I find him on is the one where is 13 years old and livng in Reynoldsville IL. I know that the one in Reynoldsville is him, because at one time my g Uncle brought a man to my parent's house and said, "This is the son of the man Ed Fuller boarded with in Reynoldsville, before he married Zella. He is moving to New York, so if you have any questions, you better ask them now."

When Uncle Ralph said that, I assumed that Edward was staying with the family after returning from WW One. I had no idea Edward had lived there as young boy of thirteen! OH the questions I would have asked. Like, where was he before he came to Reynoldsville? Are there any pictures of him and such. We did ask if Edward ever mentioned his parents, They man said Edward could not rememeber his parents. Was asked what Edward looked like, and my uncle replied that he looked just like one of my brothers.

Thanks
Sandra F
Here are the 1900 and 1910 census records, In 1900, Ruthy is widowed with one child born/living. Have you tried to order his WW1 records from the NARA?

Any idea when Ruthy died? do you have her on any other census records?
I don't know when Ruthy died, from the info on family trees on ancestry, date of death is unknown. But I do know she lived for many years after the Anderson son was born. Sorry , I don't have my tree pulled up and don't recall the name of the Anderson that she married, but the son's name was Deenie.

Also the man she married, William Fuller born Feb 04, 1877, did not die until 1964s, so I know Ruthy was not officially his widow.
