Know of anyone by the name, or information about the name, of Rutting in or from Sweden.

I can find no RUTTING in Emibas or DISBYTE or anywhere else.  The 1880 US Census lists a John RUTTING b. abt. 1811 in Sweden as the father-in-law of the head of household Nels Nelson formerly Nils Nilsson of Lewis Twp. Clay County Nebr.  John Rutting would be the father of wife Anna Nelson formerly  JÖNSDOTTER b. 3 Oct. 1840 at Knislinge sn, Kristianstad (Skåne), Sweden.   Nils and Anna emigration permits were both dated 16 Feb 1869 from their separate but annexed parishes of Knislinge and Hjärsås.

Parish records for Knislinga (and Hjärsås) Kristianstad were lost in a fire in the 1890's.  (and Yes I also posted about a fire in Ockelbo, Gävlesborg, ..I'm just lucky I guess)

Any information about RUTTING would be appreciated.

Here is what I found on Ruttig... If you don't have a subscription & need those email addys, let me know...

The only hit for Anna J. in that parish was born in 1880...

That's the only Swedish database (DIS) I have access to, so can't help much... Sorry.

Ron
Thanks Ron, you did better than I have before. At least now I know there was such a name in Sweden, even if not in Kristianstad.
Hey, Erv... If you email those folks, they might know something about your Rutting... Worth a shot.
Note, too, that Kristianstad and Blekinge län touch each other. You may want to check out the locations of the parishes involved.

A quick look in my trusty KAK Atlas shows Mjällby on the peninsula near Solvesborg and Knislinge north of Kristianstad; your places only about 30 km apart (3 Swedish mil apart). That is walkable in those days.
Good suggestions, thanks Ron and Lynn. I subscribe to DIS I'll give it another shot.
