John, I think we have exchanged email before. I'm descended from Nicholas II's son George via George's son John.
Nothing left of Hailes Abbey except the ruins. The abbey church is completely gone except for a limited number of foundation stones. The Only thing still standing are several portions of the Closter (sic?) walls. But judging from the size of the foundations (300 linear feet in the Church itself), the place must have been eye catching.
The surrounding land is very much like NE Tennessee-- Rolling hills, small mountains.
I'm in Dublin now, but will be back in the UK by mid-week.
