My Higgins ancestors were from the Washington County area of Maryland. Do you know where your g-grandma was born? Not sure I can help. Good luck with your search!

I was Patricia HIGGINS before I married in 1959. I was born in Liverpool England. My Grandfather was JAMES HIGGINS from County Mayo Ireland. He emigrated to England prior to 1901 and married MARY ELLEN COMER (nee DONNELLY) at Prescot in 1902.
Their children were JAMES born 1902 died 1904, JOHN born 1903, FRANCES born 1905, PATRICK (my Dad) born 1908, JEFFREY born 1910, MARY born 1913, JAMES J born 1913 died 1913, & MICHAEL born 1916.
JAMES & MARY ELLEN HIGGINS moved from Prescot Lancashire about 1904 to Liverpool where MARY ELLEN died in 1923 and JAMES died in 1938.
My Grandfather JAMES's father was also JAMES HIGGINS and he was a Farmer in County Mayo as at 1902. Not sure who his wife (my G Grandmother) was.
I am currently looking at a Bridget Higgins from Kilmovee County Mayo on the 1911 Irish Census whose husband James died between 1901 and 1911. Think this may be her.

My ggg grandmother Nancy Higgins b 1845 in New York. Her father was named Walter S Higgins b 1815 in New York. I'm not clearly sure where they were born in New York, but I assume it was in the Cayuga County area, which is where they lived throughout their lives, except for Nancy who later moved to Indianapolis for unknown reasons. She died there, but was brought back to Phoenix, New York to be buried, which is in Cayuga County.

Walter S Higgin's parents were listed as being from Vermont, but I haven't been able to find any names or information about them unfortunately...

Elizabeth, Nancy's brother George D. was my gg grandfather born in 1840. He moved to Iowa with his wife Jenetta and children Guy Brainerd and Floyd Schoff. They then moved to Missouri and that is where he is buried. However, he died in Michigan and his death certificate lists his parents birth as New York. His mother's name was Jane Hardenberg. I have been unable to find anything about either Walter or Jane's parents. Do you have the names of Walter's parents?
