Was wondering if anyone could help me with my brick wall? My great grandfather, David Thomas Lloyd was born 23 May 1862 in PA. That is all I can find out. His mother and father were born in Wales and so far have not found when they came to the US. David had one brother born in MD, there were five children born in PA and three in OH. His father was Thomas B. Lloyd, born about 1826. I understand he was a coal miner. If anyone could help me I would be so grateful. This was a brick wall that also bothered my sister. She died in 2006 and I have since taken over trying to complete this family tree on my mother's side. She will never know as she has Alzheimers but I want to finish this for my brother and two remaining sisters.
Hi. I am researching William Williams and his wife Jemima (Russell), who was born about 1806 PA, and died probably 1859-1874. They had children John Williams b. 1841, PA, and Eliza (Cartwright). I have not found them in any census. I have nothing on William Williams. I'm guessing he was born in PA.
Hello I am new to the group and have been researching my maternal roots that seem to come out of NJ, but more strongly PA with surnames Adam Case/Deats, Adam Case/Opdycke, Jonathan Case/Cox. Hi again! I forgot to mention the names of the children born to Jonathan Case and Mariah Cox: All born in PA, just possibly in Catawissa, Columbia County, PA and showed up again in 1850 in Roscoe, Winnebago, Illinois. These are the children whose mother (my fourth great-grandmother) Maria Cox or possibly Sarah Mariah Cox - we can't find. Sarah Case b.1830; Charles Case b. 1833, m. Martha Grason George Case b.1835; Martha Case b. 1838 m. Joseph Caspni;Harriet Case b. 1840 (my third great-grandmother); and William J. Case b. 1846 in Illinois. We have been looking for over a year for Jonathan Case' wife, Maria or Mariah or Sarah Mariah Cox.....(one record has him married to an Anna Fox from Spruce Hollow PA but that didn't pan out) perhaps a first wife...sure feels good to be connected to others on a Pennsylvania heritage journey. Thanks. Kathleen
Hello, I have been trying to trace my Kennedy's without much luck. I know they settled in PA near Conococheague Creek and for generations my family has been in Franklin County (currently Chambersburg). It gets confusing because John and David were common names through my direct line, then Lazarus. My direct line is William (?), David (1), John, David (3), Lazarus (1, 2, 3), Harold D., Harold P.
I have not been able to verify that William is David's father. Franklin County History that I have read mention the 3 Davids as if they are one in the same, but they are not (dates are different). I was hoping that someone might know where I might look from here.
I know that David (1) was believed to have been married to a Seneca Indian Maiden (felt to be a relative of Cornplanter). David had 5 children (to confuse things named his 2 sons John and David (2)). John had 3 children named Ellen, Mary, and David (3). David (3) had a son named Lazarus (1) that he left his land to when he passed.
The first David is believed to have been born about 1708 and died about 1768. I cannot verify when or how he came to the US, nor can I verify that William is his father's name. Apparently John and David are traditional names for the Kennedy's.
I wonder if anyone knows of them or maybe could point me in the right direction.
Where would I find marriage records for Andrew Whisler (1770-1843) and Catherine ____ (1772-1851) ? 1st child b. 1798, some say Lancaster, PA. 6th child Mary ("Polly") b. 1803 in Loudon, Franklin Co., PA.

I had a friend whose husbands people left Pennsylvania and went to Indiana. I wonder if a group left at the same time. I do not know if they were Mennonite, but they were living in Lancaster County before leaving. I did not realize that my Welsh Mountain Relatives went to Mennonite Schools. There is a lot of information on Quakers reaching out to the community not so much with Mennonites. When I lived in Reading there were several African American Families who were Mennonite. One of my best friends told me that she was a Mennonite. That is what I love about Genealogy finding so much rich history!
Hi Anita--- the Whallons left Ohio approx. 1855--if you send me your e-mail, i will send you a page you might find interesting----Nancy nanacole@verizon.net
I am announcing the release of my book, Black Minqua: The Life and Times of Henry Green. The book is about my ancestors who lived in and around the Welsh Mountain as early as the 1700's. Thomas and Joseph Green received original Patents and Warrants from The sons of William Penn, John, Thomas, and Richard. In 1737 he left a will naming his heirs and his wife Ann as his executor. At that time he owned land and property in Chester and Lancaster County. Henry Green, a descendant of Thomas was a participant in the Christiana Resistance, an event that took place on 9/ 11/1851. He and his brothers also fought in the United States Colored Troops out of Lancaster County.
This book is important for the family and local history it contains. I will be holding a reading and signing at the Welsh Mountain Community Center on August 4, 2012, beginning at 10:30 am.

Hello everyone. New to this group. I've been studying family who settled in Bradford, Luzerne, and Northampton counties in the 18th and early 19th century. Family names include Ennis, Decker, Sherman, Coolbaugh, Shoemaker. A stubborn brick wall for me is Elizabeth Sherman (24 Aug 1804-7 Sep 1893) (my 3 x great grandmother). I am looking for a man with the last name STEPHENS born in Pennsylvania that moved to Illinois and married a woman born in Ohio. They had a son William J. STEPHENS born February 12, 1850 in Illinois. In the 1860 census William J. STEPHENS is living with William A. VAUGHAN and wife in Henderson County, Illinois. I don't know William J. STEPHENS parents names other than from the census info if it is correct that his dad was born in Pennslyvania and mom was born in Ohio. There might be a possibilty that the name could have been STEPHENSON but we don't know if that is just a rumor that the son got mad at the dad and removed "on." Please contact me if you had a STEPHENS ancestor move within the Henderson County, Illinois area prior to 1860. Thanks.
I am looking for a picture of a Mill that is located in Ridley Park (Delaware County), which was owned by one of my ancestors. I believe the Mill is on Ridley Creek and there are pictures of it, which are not very clear. It was owned by George Green, in the early 1800's, one of my direct ancestors. If anyone has a picture to share please email or link it to a message.
have you seen this book already? Not sure it has photos of the mill but it does contain info on George Green and his home, the mill, etc. also Jesse Green and Abel Green.
I am researching Shanabarger which I think is a derivative of Schoenberger. Earliest name I have is Samuel b. c1800 who married Sophia Brant. They were in Fayette county in 1824. His father may be Wilhelm Schoenberger b c1780 who married Matilda Brannon. He may have been an immigrant.
No, I don't know of any Shanaburgers. There is another Shanabarger line in SW PA/NW WV and another line that ended up in OH/IN. I'm in touch with researchers from the latter, but we haven't found the missing link yet.
Many family members from the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania: Frank Joseph Burke (1872-1934), John Charles (1847-1921), Amanda Jane Gohn (1858-1938), Samuel Charles (1799-1875), Frances Steller Mylin (1810-1878) and current resident of Lancaster: William J Burke. I like to hear from their living family's.
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to find the parents of Mary Monroe. She was the 2nd wife of Doctor Joseph Reynolds Bradford. Together they had four children: Mary Abbott Bradford (my 4th great grandmother), Levi Bradford, Daniel Bradford and Leonard Bradford.
I have Mary being born in Rhode Island but not sure where or what year. She is buried with her husband in the Card Cemetery in Pennsylvania. I have her death being 15 Feb 1842 not sure where. There is another Mary Monroe buried in Card Cemetery with her brother, mother and father but I don't believe they are the same woman.
The History of Tioga County Pennsylvania, (R.C. Brown & Co., 1897), pg 1097, includes a sketch of Joseph R. Bradford which states he married Mary Monroe of Portsmouth, Rhode Island in May 1822.
There is also a sketch for a man named Bateman Monroe, born 02 March 1815, also in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Perhaps there’s a family connection between Mary Monroe Bradford and Bateman Monroe?
FYI~ There is a closed group on Facebook for Carbon County area researchers. One may join by request. I was lucky enough to receive a photo of an old aunt's headstone from a fellow researcher shortly after joining. I was surprised she was born in PA. When I was younger I thought her accent sounded very German.

No, I don't know of any Shanaburgers. There is another Shanabarger line in SW PA/NW WV and another line that ended up in OH/IN. I'm in touch with researchers from the latter, but we haven't found the missing link yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Michelle,
The History of Tioga County Pennsylvania, (R.C.
Good Luck with your search!
